The Francis Howell Band Boosters are pleased to offer scholarships to seniors who have participated at a minimum in marching band and/or winter drum line/guard and plan to continue on to post-secondary education.

You may file your application online. An email confirmation of your application will be sent to your email.
Or you may print the application in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format and give the application and essay to Mr. Miller.
Scholarship applications will be open beginning February 1, 2016.
The deadline to submit a scholarship application is April 1, 2016. All applications must be submitted by 11:59pm.
You will be sent an email confirmation upon our receipt of your scholarship application.

Students should answer the following questions in essay format. Your response should be typed, no longer than 3 pages, and should not include your name or instrument within your essay in order to keep your application anonymous.

Please explain the role that music has played in your life and give detailed examples as to how your band experiences have contributed to your high school career. Furthermore, explain how these experiences will help your transition into college and beyond. In conclusion, feel free to add any additional information that you would like us to know about yourself.

Selection criteria will include:

1. Demonstrated character & leadership skills

2. Willingness to help under classman

3. Honors and awards received

For more information pertaining to the Senior Scholarships, please reference Article XII from the Band Booster By Laws that explains and outlines the requirements and stipulations for said scholarships:

Each year the Association shall award a minimum of two (2) scholarships which shall be awarded in the amount of $500 for each group of ten (10) submitted scholarship applications. Any proportion of students over the number of ten (10)will be call for an additional scholarship to be offered.
A) A scholarship chairperson shall be appointed by the President. The chairperson and committee members cannot have a senior student in the Program.
B) Scholarship applications shall be made available by the Band Director to all graduating seniors who were members of any of the Programs during any portion of their high school career.
C) The chairperson shall prepare the scholarship applications for the committee to review and oversee the final selection discussions. The committee shall review the applications and identify those that best meet the criteria requested in the application.
C) Payment of a scholarship shall be withheld until proof of acceptance to or enrollment in an accredited college, university, or technical school is supplied to the Treasurer. A copy of a “school receipt” for tuition, books, or supplies will suffice as proof. This scholarship must be used during the academic school year following graduation in May.
D) Scholarship recipients shall not have outstanding dues owed to the Association. If the scholarship recipient has outstanding dues owed to this Association, at the time of the award announcement, the scholarship shall be awarded to another applicant, as determined by the Scholarship Committee.
