Dear Band Director,

I am very excited to invite you and your band to join us on October 28, 2017 (rain or shine) for the 37th Annual Francis Howell Marching Invitational.  We will hold the event at Francis Howell High School on the all-weather turf field inside Viking Stadium and use a prelims/finals format. We have used Team Pageantry, Inc. to judge the event each of the last four years, and we plan to contract with them again for this year’s event.

Band Classification:

Bands will be placed into classes to allow bands of similar size to compete against one another. You may choose to play in a larger band class for the preliminary round; please let us know in advance so the necessary arrangements can be made prior to the event.  Performance order in the preliminary round is determined by registration date, regardless of band classification.

Your marching band will be critiqued in the following categories:

  • Music Performance Ensemble
  • Music Performance Individual (field level)
  • Music Performance General Effect
  • Visual Performance Ensemble ⇨
Averaged 20%
  • Visual Performance Individual (field level) ⇨
  • Visual Performace General Effect

*Judging sheets will be the Mid-America Marching Consortium sheets

Again this year: In addition to the captions we have traditionally offered, there will be additional judges to score for caption awards for the best guard and percussion in each class.

You may register by mailing the registration form, or you may register online. You can find links on our website, www.fhhsmb.org, and we have a listing on www.midwestmarching.com. There is a discount for registering by May 31st. Payment is not due until August 31st, so you do not need to send payment at the time of registration.

You will receive additional information regarding parking, check-in, warm-ups, etc. 2-3 weeks before the event.

It is my distinct hope that the Francis Howell Invitational will continue to be one of the area’s premier marching band events. I wish you the best of luck as you prepare for the next season.
